Electronic dog fencing from 1970 to the late ‘80s was the sole domain of a single company. That is, until the 1989 expiration of their patent paved the way for competitors to enter the industry. However, most of these new companies simply put their own logo on the existing technology. But not everyone. Two entrepreneurs, Bob Slattery founder of ReachUSA® and Bob Wolfe, founder of ValPak of Cincinnati®, had the vision to see the situation as a chance to create a superior product. They set about to make a totally innovative type of electric dog fence. First, they got in touch with the America's biggest radar detection organization. With these resources, they designed an electric dog fence with a broad range of powerful, never-before-seen characteristics. Their strategy was straightforward and plain, adopting a brand new pet containment system. The result was revolutionary breakthrough in electric dog fences. Perimeter Technologies was formed.
John Purtell joined the Perimeter Technologies team In 2001. Purtell, one of the highest achieving leaders in the business, had created Invisible Fence® in 1976. Under his leadership, that company saw dynamic expansion from its founding up through the '80s, from a small start-up into the largest pet containment organization in the industry.
When Radio Systems acquired both INNOTEK® and Invisible Fence® in 2006, it created another great opportunity for Perimeter to offer a do-it-yourself dog fencing system allowing more choices for retail customer. Now you have Perimeter™, the most advanced Do-It-Yourself Electric Dog Fence on the planet. And this is a 100% American built electric dog fence system. Perimeter Technologies is committed to supplying consumers with safer designs and, in-turn, more peace of mind.
